School Entry and Visitor Access Reminder

As part of new provincial legislation and Calgary Board of Education procedures designed to enhance school safety, Nelson Mandela High School's exterior doors will be locked during instructional time. Doors will be locked from 9:30 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. and from 1:00 p.m. to 3:30 p.m.

Visitors can gain access to the school by pressing the intercom button at the main entrance and reporting directly to the main office upon entry.

Students who leave campus during a spare block are asked to remain off campus until five minutes before their next scheduled class. This practice helps reduce traffic and disruptions in the main office while supporting a safe and secure learning environment for all students and staff.

Student Parking Reminder

Starting this week, we will be actively enforcing regulations in both the staff and student parking lots.

Students who park on school property must display a valid 2026-27 student parking pass. Vehicles parked without a current parking pass may be subject to ticketing.

Parking passes are available for purchase through the Business Office. Students who plan to drive to school regularly are encouraged to obtain their pass as soon as possible to avoid any enforcement action.

Reporting Discriminatory Language

At Nelson Mandela High School, we are committed to creating a safe, welcoming, and inclusive environment for all students. Discriminatory language of any kind has no place in our school community and will not be tolerated.

We encourage students who experience or witness discriminatory language or behaviour to speak with a trusted adult, including a teacher, counsellor, coach, administrator, or other member of our staff. Reporting concerns allows us to follow up appropriately, support those affected, and reinforce the values of dignity and respect that define our school.
