Important Information | Course Changes (Both Semesters) and CBe-learn Online (Semester 1)

Please read all information carefully before submitting a form. Classes at NMHS are very full, and it can be difficult for counsellors to adjust timetables. Not following the correct process may result in your request not being fulfilled.

Please note that course changes and online courses are not guaranteed.

We recommend saving a copy of your form submission for your records and as proof of submission, if needed.

Important Information:

  • Students who come in person will be directed to the form for changes.
  • Emails regarding course changes and requests will not be answered.
  • During the first week of school, counsellors will only see students in person if their timetable shows “See Counsellor” or if a part-time schedule is desired. Part-time schedules must be completed in person and approved.
  • Students may only come to the counselling office during a block marked “See Counsellor” or during a spare periodStudents may not leave a scheduled class to see a counsellor.
  • The Course Change Form and Online Course Request Form may each be submitted only once.
  • You must be logged into your EDUCBE account for the forms to work properly.

Course Changes

Important Information:

  • All schedules are subject to change as we balance classes. Schedules will not be changed back once adjustments have been made.
  • Teaching assignments may change. The teacher listed on your timetable may not be the teacher assigned when classes begin. Teacher changes will not be reversed.
  • Courses cannot be moved to different periods because of extracurricular activities or preferred spare periods. Students are expected to be available for all four periods of the day, unless an arrangement has been discussed and confirmed with the Off-Campus Coordinator, Mr. Tomasson.
  • Changes will not be made to switch into or out of another teacher’s class.
  • Check PowerSchool regularly if you have submitted a change request. Please allow time for requests to be processed.
  • Success Advisors are available to help. Regular appointments for non-course-change questions and general support will begin September 14.
  • Grade 10 and Grade 11 students must have 8 courses.
  • Grade 12 students must have at least 6 courses. If you are requesting fewer than 6 courses, you must speak with your counsellor in person.

When to Submit a Course Change Request:

Students may complete the Course Change Form if:

  • You need to balance your schedule (e.g., you have more academic courses in one semester than the other).
    • We do not balance semesters based on post-secondary application timelines.
    • Check to make sure your core subjects are balanced between semesters.
  • You completed a summer school course that now impacts your schedule.
  • You need to adjust your courses because of post-secondary requirements.
  • You want to change the level of a course (for example, 30-1 to 30-2).
  • You want to change one course to a different coursePlease note that many course sections are very full, so changes will only be made if space is available in the requested course.

If your request has not been processed within 3 business days, the change cannot be made.

Emails regarding course changes will not be answered.
